Monaco, closelyMake a day of it
Yachts in Port Hercule with Monaco rising above the Mediterranean
A principality by the sea

Just a few kilometres from end to end, Monaco unfolds in layers: harbour light, pastel streets above the sea, and gardens made for a pause.

MONACO

01 / 04 Port Hercule
A small place, with room to wander

The best way to take in Monaco is to slow down.

Look beyond the grand names and the views open up: a quiet garden above the water, a market street turning toward the port, the old town glowing at the end of the day. Here’s a field guide to finding your own pace.

Let the city set the pace.

Think of this as a loose line through the principality, not a checklist. Stay longer wherever the view catches you.

  1. Start up on the RockWander Monaco-Ville’s lanes and look out over the harbour from the gardens.
  2. Drift back to the waterTake the slope down at your own pace and pause around La Condamine and Port Hercule.
  3. Follow the coast eastMake space for the Japanese Garden, a sea-facing walk and the light around Larvotto.

Small enough to explore. Steep enough to plan.

Walking brings the details close; public lifts, escalators and the local bus network make the climbs easier. Leave a little room between stops and check live services as you go.
